Second freebie today! :)

Overlays/Papers
Commercial Use
Mystery Overlays I
-FREEBIE-
OK, I'm feeling generous today - and I'm ready to share my next little treat with you.  This is a set of five overlays in grayscale as well as 12 colored papers I made using these overlays.  All were created at 300 ppi, 12x12, and are available for personal or commercial use.    All of these overlays were made from the same scanned image of an item in my house.  It's something I've used many times, though not for several years now.  It was made in 1984, and now it's gone for good.  It might be hard, though not impossible to find another one these days.  Now for the big question...what on earth is it??? I would LOVE to hear your ideas - please leave your guesses in the comments below!

I just love little games - remember that my Shrubbery kit and Hay Day kit both have little games for you, too - only a very few people ever found my "needle in the haystack," but some did, so it IS possible!  Just zoom in a LOT!  I recently saw another "needle in the haystack" promotion (from Sticker Planet), and I laughed at how easy THEIR needle is to find! Here is theirs...

Notes for the day:
Those of you who have been faithful readers of my blog may remember that a few weeks ago, we had a huge allergy scare with my darling daughter, Lydia.  I am very optimistic now, as we have finally decided what to do about it.  We are pulling her out of the public school, since they had way too many close calls last year (sitting kids with peanut butter right next to her, etc.)  We looked into homeschooling and discovered a version that I think will be perfect for us, and more importantly, perfect for Lydia's personality.  It's an actual accredited school, so she'll have her own teacher to grade her work, etc., but it is a distance learning program.  So, I will be the one doing the lessons with her in the safety of our own home.  The school is called Oak Meadow, and uses an interesting education philosophy I hadn't heard of before.  It is "Waldorf-inspired," and as such focuses on building children into creative, inquisitive lifelong learners.  They bring back the basics, with some classic literature, music, art, and even field trips about the local community and natural surroundings, all with a very integrated approach.  Lydia sampled some of their lessons and was SO excited to learn more - she wanted to do more schoolwork instead of playing!  I'm really looking forward to having the opportunity to participate in her learning - I was feeling so disconnected with her education last year, as all we had was one conference with the teacher in the fall.  I'll let you know how this new adventure unfolds!  :)

Hugs to everyone,
Jeanie

Thanks for the overlays Jeanne! Looks like that fake easter grass stuff but I'm sure that's not it. Of course I would have never figured out the disco ball either. Maybe tomorrow after church I'll look at them closer. Sounds like a great plan for Lydia's schooling. I'm so glad she's excited. I wonder who's going to have the best time, teacher or student!!!

Remember to take it slow! You're going to think you feel up to doing things but don't forget that by the time your body protests, you've gone way too far. Not fussing, just the facts. Been there, done that!

I'm SO happy that your surgery went well and you are home recovering--ummm, when you're not making us these fabulous freebies, that is ......as wonderful as these are, and you KNOW I love 'em, I hope you are taking things slow and easy and not over-doing things!
As for Miss Lydia--what you've found for her sounds fantastic! I can't wait to hear more about how things go with the new classes and the things you'll learn together! Oh, I wish I could home school my son..I swear, the public schools here learn the smarts right out of 'em. And, disconnected?!? Yeppers! I know that feeling, the one conference that was scheduled, was canceled due to weather--and never rescheduled. So, I called different times and went straight to voice mail, which was never returned.....he's a gifted student as is SO bored and getting lazier every year. I worry for him. Anyway--keep us posted on your progress and recovery! (((Hugs!)))

Thank you! I've downloaded, and the overlays and papers are very beautiful. Now to play and guess what it is!

As I've found your site just recently, I didn't read about the allergie issues. I need to read a bit back soon. Just was a little bit too busy lately. ;)
But I'm very happy you've found something that will solve part of the problem so nicely!

*hugz* So glad to hear you ok.. And you really best take it easy:)
Thank you for the lovely freebies as well..
My first guess would have been that fake grass as well, but then you made a disco ball out of a picture of stone, so no doubt its not even close to that..
The only other thing I could think of was a favorite jumper may be..
hmmm do earth worms last that long lmao..
So now I am going to snag the freebies thanks bunches for these, you are going to tell us what it actually is soon right ?

I've taken a good look, and thinking the same as Patamomma; tape from a music cassette. Right?
Maybe one called 'best of 1984'?

It all comes together when you consider your discription.
I think if it isn't, it should be. lol.

opps..The home schooling sounds not only fun, but I think in the long run will be better for Lydia..
It just sounds so much more interesting than sitting in a classroom..
Over here at least where my daughters went to school, they took the allergies seriously, we had one child like that, and anything that had traces of peanut in it were just not allowed, my daughter had food intolerances and she was put onto a special diet and she wasnt allowed certain things, her teacher found out what she could and couldnt have, (she was one of those teachers that gave her kids treats ) And first she just had some of the things that my daughter could have, but several of the kids tried them and liked them so they decided that they would rather she had them, they still got treats but it was much more healthier..
But it doesnt sound like your school their thinks along those lines, would they not be worried about getting sued?
Anyway take care, enjoy your children on their visits, they will be back with you soon :)

Thank you so much! Yes sometimes it is scary how non diligent schools can be. I know a Teacher cannot be e everywhere, but they could make sure she wasn't sitting right next to someone etc. Hope she likes the new way!

Thank you for the great overlay. What fun, guess the object! I think it is one of those lampshades we all bought about then of loose woven thread with a resin over it. If not that then a pan scrubber - mine looks quite like it. Cannot wait to find out the answer. The schooling does look great and I know you will both do well - hugs from England, PatW

So happy the surgery went well and the results were great. Do take it easy though even though I know you are happy there was no cancer. Your body just went through major surgery and it takes time to heal. I too have been there, done that! LOL

I haven't a clue what the overlays are but will look at it more closely later. Thank you for sharing them though.

I wish you all the best wit the home schooling. My DIL homeschools their 4 children with great success. Seems they are able to join in more outside activities as they are finished their school work early in the day. They all take violin and/or piano lessons and each are involved in sports activities such as karate (granddaughter loves it), baseball, hockey, swimming, basketball etc where they get to met other children their own age. They also get together with other homeschooled children from time to time.

How wonderful for both you and Lydia! The time we spend with our children seems so fleeting. I know that someone switched babies in the night on me because that wonderful, skinny 14 year old boy was just a chubby, happy baby only a day or so ago! LOL Thanks for the overlay too. Can't wait to use it!

That homeschooling concept sounds really interesting. It is something very foreign to me since homeschooling is not allowed over here in Germany. I hope you'll both have lots of fun with it.

Thank you very much for sharing those interesting overlays.

Thank you so much for the opportunity to download your beuitiful work.
Since you are not feeling well, I also send my best wishes to you for a speedy recovery, It is an old Sicilian custom to pick a leaf for some you wish well to at dawn, at this moment is is 3:51 Am, and Winter, so leaves are few, and dawn is not till around 6:30 Am, but I will find a leaf for you, and it will fly to you with all my wishes.
