(This post, originally dated 4/6/08, was copied from my previous blog.  Please view it there if you wish to see prior comments.)

Theme Kit
Sunflowers for Lydia
Part 1 - Papers
-FREEBIE-

This is the first installment of a sunflower theme kit in beige, gold, blue, olive and cinnamon.  It contains twelve 12x12 papers, all at 300 ppi.  The kit is based upon a painting of sunflowers I did at a recent art workshop with my daughter.  (See story below.)  Watch my blog for more parts to this kit...if you like it, please leave me some love!  :)

The "Sunflowers for Lydia" Story:
This is a special kit for me - the painting used for this kit was hand-painted by me!  It was the first time I’ve painted in about 25 years, and I had SO much fun!  I attended a children’s art workshop with my 7-year old daughter, Lydia, at our public library.  They were kind enough to let me play with the paints, too. :)   It involved a study of Van Gogh’s “Sunflowers” paintings.  Our assignment was to paint our own version on construction paper with tempera paints (brings back first grade memories!), and instead of a paintbrush, we painted with the handle of a plastic spoon!  Yes, a spoon!  Crazy, isn’t it?

This was displayed at Lydia's very first art show!

Above is a layout I made using my daughter’s version of the sunflower painting - Inside her frame is even some paper with her very own art on it!  (Please let me know if anyone would like me to post Lydia’s paper as well - it’s the one just inside the blue frame.)  Of course, if anyone has feedback for Lydia on her artwork, I’ll be happy to pass the message along!  She wants to be an art teacher someday!  :)
